WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme originally hosted by A Daily Rhythm and revived by Taking on a World of Words.

All you have to do is answer the following questions.

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you finish recently reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Currently reading

As usual, you’re going to see just how many books that I read at once. And, believe it or not, all of them are new! I read all the ones that I was working on last week.

American Psycho

I didn’t mean to, but I jumped into a buddy read for this one! I’ve wanted to reread this for ages. My original can be found here! It’s a good book, but not for everyone.

Doctor Sleep (The Shining, #2)

I’m slowly easing back into horror (if you can’t tell) and this is one I really want to read. I read it back when it first came out, but it warrants a reread! My review is here, but it’ll get updated by the time I reread it.

To Be Taught, If Fortunate

I was surprised by getting this ARC! So, I had to bump it up on my reading list. I’m enjoying it and I know I’ll finish this one really soon since it’s a very short novella.

The Wives of Henry VIII

I’ve really started loving Antonia Fraser and I’ve had this book on my shelf for a long time. I think it’s going to be good. She has some very defined goals for this book and I want to see how well she meets them.

Lust Killer

I’ve been dying to read this book for a while and they happened to have it available as a downloadable audiobook. Snatched it up!

Just finished

This list is going to be long. Sorry, my friends. Let’s just get it over with. I’m not going to post pictures of the covers this time!

I did finish this one! My review will be on the blog on the 17th. Another fantastic addition to this series.

Another one I finished! And, if you stick around a few hours, you’ll get to see this review. Totally blew me away and I’ll be recommending this for ages to come.

I finished this in record speed, but the review will be up on the 18th! It was just as good as the first one for me.

I didn’t like it. I gave it 1/5 and the review is only on Goodreads, but I’ll link it here for anyone who wants to read it.

I read this over two days because I knew that I couldn’t handle the subject matter. I didn’t want to read it over the span of a week or something. I had to get it done ASAP. And I did. 4/5 and my review is only on Goodreads, but I’ll link it here.

No review and no rating. I gave it a try and didn’t like it. Basically, I read a chapter and could tell that this one wouldn’t be for me.

Omg, I read this in less than 12 hours. It was… amazing. The review will be up on the 18th as well, but in the afternoon!

I wanted to like this one but it really didn’t happen. The story didn’t work for me. I basically outline that much in my Goodreads only review, which is also here.

I read this one for Chantel and the NEWT challenge. It was very good. 4/5 and my review is here on Goodreads.

I’ve been meaning to read this for ages and finally have done just that. But it wasn’t really what I was looking for. 3/5 and the review is here!

This was a reread for me because I was in the mood for some Austen. Enjoyable! Still a 4/5 for me and my review is only on Goodreads, but here’s the link.

Up next

Alright, here we are. What I’m thinking about reading next, which might change since I have a ton of library books right now that I need to go through and purge. Oops.

Mother Knows Best

This is going to be an interesting one. I think once I finish To Be Taught, If Fortunate I’ll dive into this one. I’m getting geared up to read all the ARCs I have.

His Hideous Heart

I’m super excited for this one. I’m a big Poe fan and I really want to read this one. It’s going to be so much fun.

Gideon the Ninth (The Ninth House, #1)

I really want to get to this one soon. I’ve read that it needs a lot of time dedicated to it. So, probably one of the first I’ll be reading to get through before the hell that is school starts up.

The Garden of Eden

I’m not a big Hemingway fan, but when I read this book in 2013, I really enjoyed it. I want to see if I feel the same way now! Fingers crossed, right?

Currently reading

As per usual, I’m reading a few books at once! Very much on brand for me, as y’all should know by now. Some I’m expecting to finish soon and others I’ve just started. (And the ones that I’m finishing soon might be finished by the time this posts since I schedule everything!)

Sea Witch Rising (Sea Witch #2)

This just came out yesterday! And, me being me, I started it. First, because I desperately wanted to. Second, because I went out last night to be a part of the book birthday celebrations at Lawrence Public Library and wanted to have read some!

American Psycho

I haven’t read this book in years. It’s the one book that disgusts me so much that I can’t even describe it. But, I’m doing a buddy read with someone on Instagram! I figured it was time to revisit this one.

Jade War (The Green Bone Saga, #2)

I don’t know why this has taken me so long to read! I have a little over 150 pages left in this but it’s taken me forever to read. Anyways, it’s great! I love the expansion of the world and I have no clue how it’s going to end.

The Monster of Florence

Whenever I think of the Monster of Florence, I think of Hannibal. But, this book has been on my TBR forever. I’m not joking when I say that. I’m in a big true crime mood, so I decided to pick it up and see how it goes!

Serpent & Dove (Serpent & Dove, #1)

This is soooo good and I’m getting close to being finished with it. I have about 30% left, so I could finish it in a few days if I really push myself. But this book has literally all of my favorite tropes and just ugh. It’s amazing.

Just finished

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

  • HP series

Okay, so this is going to take some explaining. I wanted to read the illustrated copies but they’re only out so far to Prisoner of Azkaban. Then Chantel and I decided to see if I could read all of them over the weekend. And I did it. So I read seven books in three days and I get a Funko pop for it.

Shadows of Self (Mistborn, #5)

So, I finished this one Monday night. And I wish I could say that I loved it. It’s just… not as good? I want a definite, overarching plot but there is none. I want to be attached to the characters but I’m not. It just isn’t as good. My review is only on Goodreads, but I’ll link it here.

Next up

Alrighty, now some books that I’m considering to read next depending on my mood and whatever it is I finish!

Funny enough, I’m not reading any YA contemporary right now, but this is one of the books that I really want to pick up next. It’s been on my TBR for a while and now I own it, so it’s time that I go for it.

The Golden Hour

I think that I’m finally ready to read this one! It’s historical fiction that involves the Royal family. Totally my thing. And I’m interested to see if I’ll love it or hate it.

American Predator: The Hunt for the Most Meticulous Serial Killer of the 21st Century

As I said, I’m in a true crime mood. I’m just wanting to read and watch all the true crime in the world. And this one has caught my eye. So, it’s going to be one that I have to read this month!

Kingdom of Souls

As soon as I finish Serpent & Dove, I’ll move onto this one as my next ARC! It looks so good and I really can’t wait to read it.

All you have to do is answer the following questions.

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you finish recently reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

I’ve decided to take on this new tag! I think it’ll be pretty fun and easy, and be a really good of talking real-time about what I’m reading. So, let’s do this first one.

Currently reading!

Right now, I’m currently reading five books. I’m rereading American Gods for the umpteenth time, so that’s nothing to broadcast.

But these are the books I’m reading besides that:

The Reckless Oath We Made

This is an ARC that I snagged. I loved Greenwood’s debut and this one is just as good. It’s very different than her first book, but I love how she talks about Kansas related topics since she’s a native like I am.

An Enchantment of Ravens

Because I loved Sorcery of Thorns so much, I decided to jump on this one! It’s okay. I’m liking it but it’s just not as rich as I’d have liked it to be. Still good for a debut, but it’s not my favorite.

The Storm Crow (The Storm Crow, #1)

Another one I picked up after seeing some good reviews. And another one I’m finding quite average. It’s not bad, but I’m about 50% in and it hasn’t really captured me.

Darkdawn (The Nevernight Chronicle, #3)

And this one. I know, I know. Caidyn, how the fuck did you get it? I don’t know, but I did. And it’s kinda meh. That’s basically how I’ve felt about the whole series, though.

Just finished…

So, I’ve just finished quite a few books. But I’m picking three, two that I really enjoyed and one that I DNFed.

The Smoke Thieves (The Smoke Thieves, #1)

This is one I really enjoyed! I thought it was fun and very, very much like a YA Game of Thrones. I had my issues with it, but it was still good. My review will be posted on the 28th!

Nocturna (A Forgery of Magic, #1)

This is the one I DNFed. I called it quits at page 154. Taken from my review I did on Goodreads:

I could tell that this was going to be like my experience with A Darker Shade of Magic. Good premise, especially interesting since it’s a Spanish inspired world. Bland characters that did nothing but annoy me. A plot that felt all over the place. Weird pacing where action was happening but I was bored. Forced romance on the horizon. Things happening that I was supposed to care about but couldn’t be bothered with. Evil magic that was being released.

I put it down as soon as I realized it was going to be another Schwab book (without it being by Schwab). I read that whole damn series by her. I don’t need to read another.

With the Fire on High

I seriously didn’t expect to like this one as much as I did! It was so good! Again, I had things I didn’t love about it, but it blew me away. The review will be posted on here August 4th!

What’s next?

There are a few books that I have in mind that I want to dive into next!

Wicked Fox (Gumiho, #1)

I’m going to be buddy reading this with Sam @ Tinted Prose Reviews soon! We both got it for our affiliate boxes for Book of the Month’s new YA book box. If you want to subscribe to it — and if you already have the original BotM you have to make another account — you can use my affiliate link! I’ll get a bit of money back, which will help me get books to create more content for y’all!

Shadows of Self (Mistborn, #5)

I have this out from the library right now and I really want to read it. I read the fourth Mistborn book a couple weeks ago. Not as good as the original series and I desperately miss it, but I’m going to carry on for the time being.

The Girl the Sea Gave Back

I have an ARC of this one and I’m super excited to have it! I can’t wait to see what goes on next in this world, really.
