❄️❄️REVIEW❄️❄️ 🌨️ DNF at page 251 🌨️ Another case of a gorgeous cover but bad story. 🌨️ I thought that Ernshaw's debut, The Wicked Deep, was middling. I liked it, but I didn't like lots of other aspects. Such as, it was so romance-y. Which isn't what I like in my books. Some romance is totally fine and I do enjoy it, but I can't handle plots that hinge around plots, the romance makes up all the plot, and the characters are only important because of romance. 🌨️ And this is the book where that happens. 🌨️ The plot is... well I read most of the book and I still don't really know what the story was about. There was something about a kid going missing and dying, but it was pretty insignificant. It was mainly about two teens who fall "in love" with each other and they don't know a thing about each other. There's some sort of fantasy, but, again, it's never really explained because it's all about these characters trying to say they're in love but not in love. 🌨️ It got on my nerves and I can't read that kind of book. I was so excited for a spooky, winter read but I couldn't force myself to read the rest of it. 🌨️ #booksubscriptionbox #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #review #bookreviewer #bookreview #yafantasy
Yesterday, I finished rereading The House of Special Purpose by John Boyne. So, of course, I decided to jump into The Race to Save the Romanovs! Gotta love Russian history, right? 📚 #romanovs #historicalfiction #historicalnonfiction #bookstack #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #amreading
The picture is dark, I know, but I finished this today! It was so much better the second time around. I'm very glad that I reread it and I can't wait to 1) watch the documentary and 2) see everyone affected get justice. 🕵️ #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #truecrime #michellemcnamara #illbegoneinthedark #goldenstatekiller #eastarearapist #originalnightstalker #earons
Cold weather is the best time to listen to audiobooks. And these three (although they're physical copies) are my favorites to listen to anytime! 🎧 I'm a huge Shakespeare nerd, so I love listening to plays. But my favorite is Richard III. Not the most popular one, but it's beautifully crafted and a lot of fun to listen to. 🎧 Then, there's Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell. I've never actually read a physical copy, but that's because of the footnotes. I gave up and then decided to try the audiobook. Perfect way to do it! 🎧 Lastly, there's American Gods. Not only is it my favorite book but it's also my favorite audiobook. Full cast and amazingly done! 🎧 What audiobooks are your favorites? 🎧 #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookstack #americangods #jonathanstrangeandmrnorrell #neilgaiman #susannaclarke #richardiii #shakespeare #audiobooks
Hello December TBR! ❄️ It snowed a little bit today, which is perfect reading weather. I've also technically started some of these books! I DNFed Winterwood (whoops). I'm about halfway through with The House of Special Purpose. And then tomorrow I'm starting a buddy read with @joonfired to read Blood Heir! ❄️ What are all of you reading this month? What are you reading today? ❄️ #decembertbr #tbr #tbrpile #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #currentlyreading #reader #amreading #tbrcart
🚪🚪REVIEW🚪🚪 5/5 🚪 Thank you to Tor.com for sending me the ARC in exchange for an honest review! 🚪 4.5/5 🚪 This was so good! I'm so, so glad that I was able to get my hands on an early copy because I can't stress how great this was! Jack and Jill have always been my favorite characters in this series because I find their story so fascinating. (Besides Kade because I'm DYING for a book about his story and world.) 🚪 But this book picks up after the events of the third book. So, if you haven't read that, maybe stop here. I didn't reread the series before diving into this one. Part of me wishes I did, but I remembered enough of it to be able to pick up and remember the characters. The nice thing about these books is that you can read them in order but, technically, you don't have to. It can help, but it's not required. 🚪 Anyways, the book picks up after the third book. Jack is back, but she's not quite right. Why? Because she and Jill have switched bodies. She gets Kade, Cora, Sumi, and Christopher to come back into her world to help her right things. 🚪 I really loved how the story went. It was so much fun to read. I read about half one day then read a few chapters each day after that. Perfectly plotted and it was just wonderful to see how this story would pay off since Jack and Jill have been in three of the five books so far. Part of me hopes that this is it for that world, but I still love and will miss it since it feels like their story arc is over. 🚪 Really, I totally enjoyed this book! I can't wait to have the finished copy and to reread the series so I can better see Jack and Jill's story. 🚪 @tordotcompub #bookreview #cometumblingdown #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #yafantasy #tordotcompublishing #arcreview
