Book review – Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody

Caidyn's review (1)

Ace of Shades (The Shadow Game, #1)

1/5 – DNF at page 42

Ever read a description that sounds interesting but you’re slightly iffy about because of mixed reviews? Who am I kidding, we’re readers. I’m sure we all can think of some books like that.

This is one for me.

And I set out to read it but it just was so. Bad.

First chapter, I realized that I wasn’t into the main female character. She was boring and dull and I didn’t want to put up with her one bit.

Second chapter, I realized that I didn’t like the male character either! And that the writing style sucked.

Third chapter, I realized that I could see right where the *~shocking~* story would go and that I wasn’t into the romance that was already being forced.

It took me three chapters to realize that this book was everything I didn’t want in a book. Which makes it a damn shame because it reminds me of why I have issues with YA. It felt like every other YA story about a gang of people that I’ve read, or tried to read, and don’t like. It kills me because I know YA can be so much more, but it’s hard to wade through all the hyped crap to find the books that are genuinely good.

Talk to me!
What did you think of this book if you read it?

    • Personally, I can’t recommend it. I didn’t see anything glowing that I could shove to that one person as a bit of hope. But, if you read it, I hope you love it or give a hilarious rant review.
