Top Ten Tuesday – Halloween/Creepy Freebie

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018!

This week, it’s a Halloween freebie, so I’m going to talk about scary movies that I love! Some are actually horror movies, others aren’t!

  • The Strangers

Yup. I love this movie to pieces. It was one of the first horror movies that scared me and, tot his day, it freaks me out a bit. I can’t watch it without getting creeped out.

  • Interview with the Vampire

YES I LOVE THIS MOVIE. Probably better than the books. No. Most likely better than the books. It’s just so good. It’s a comfort movie for me.

  • Halloween (Rob Zombie remake)

Maybe it’s just me, but I love the Rob Zombie remake of Halloween. I love the whole franchise. I’ve watched most of them. But, I just love what Rob Zombie did with the story and how he told it. It impresses me each time I watch it. Although, his remake of Halloween II isn’t as good.

  • Friday the 13th, Part 2

YES I LIKE PART 2 BETTER THAN PART 1. Actually, I love so many of the old slasher franchises. Jason X is another great one in this franchise. Oh and Freddy v. Jason. I mean, you guys. I never get to talk about this since everyone I know hates horror movies. (Including Chantel.) But, I love this one. It’s so fun and creepy, plus you get Jason before he got the hockey mask.

  • American Psycho

This was one of the first horror movies I watched. I actually watched it with my mom when I was, like, 12. I don’t remember why but we watched it. She hated it and wished she hadn’t watched it. I loved it.

  • Sleepy Hollow

Okay, THIS was the first horror movie I watched. Love it to this day. I was 10 and watched it with my dad because my mom refused to. It was a great day of my life, even with the awkward sex scene in it.

  • Sweeney Todd

I love this movie. One of my favorites. This is another one my mom watched with me. She DVRed it and, well, didn’t know what it was about or the content in it. She thought of me, though, because it was Johnny Depp and Tim Burton. So she figured I would love it. I did. She didn’t. How she didn’t realize it was rated R, I will never know.

  • Creep

I feel like this is an underrated horror movie. When I watched it, I got super uncomfortable with it because 1) it’s awkward and 2) it actually gets quite creepy. I jumped a few times while watching it and I still enjoy it.

  • IT

Thanks to this movie, clowns and sewer drains freak me out. No joke. If it’s dark and I have an option, I’ll walk around drains. But, I’ve seen this movie a few times now and, well, it doesn’t scare me anymore but it holds a very special place in my heart. And that remake? So good. I think I prefer the new Pennywise because he capitalizes on the maniacal clown.

  • The Shining

Last but not least, this movie. I mean, it’s classic and it actually stays creepy. Funny enough, I was on a plane to Amsterdam and fell asleep to this movie… only to wake up to screaming and I had to take a solid minute to recognize it was just the movie. Great times.

Okay, all. That’s my list! As I wrote this, I kept thinking of more and more horror movies that I could put. Some that weren’t “scary” and some that scared me but aren’t horror movies. It was such fun writing this because this is a topic I can’t exactly talk about as much as I’d like.

With that…

Talk to me!
Do you love horror movies?
What’s your favorite? What is one that scared you the most?

  1. I love the new IT! I think it’s my favorite right now. I cannot watch Creep ever again, I found it seriously disturbing and I can’t really articulate why. For days after I was convinced I would just find that wolf head in my closet or dresser drawers or something. Really freaked me out. I’ve bonded a lot with my brother over horror movies and video games so the genre is very special to me.

    • I really need to rewatch the new IT because it was great. And yes to Creep! It was so odd and strange and hard to figure out just how odd it was.

That’s so great that you can bond over that!

  2. My favourite horror movie is When A Stranger Calls – I don’t know how many times I’ve watched it but it still freaks me out. I have tried to watch IT a couple of times but couldn’t get into it

    • That is a good one, too! I’ve only seen the remake of it, but it’s a great one. Have you watched the documentary about Killer Legends? It goes into that whole myth.

Yeah, IT can be hard to get into. It’s a long one.
