Down the TBR Hole is a meme created by Lia @ Lost in a Story.
Most of you probably know this feeling, your Goodreads TBR pile keeps growing and growing and it seems like there is no light at the end of the tunnel. You keep adding, but you add more than you actually read. And then when you’re scrolling through your list, you realize that you have no idea what half the books are about and why you added them. Well that’s going to change!
IT WORKS LIKE THIS:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
This week I actually got a bit bored at work after seeing books come up on my Goodreads feed that were on my TBR, so that prompted me to skim and delete books that had me go wtf at myself.
It sounds deliciously weird, however I also don’t like anthologies. Even when the stories are interconnected. Anthologies just aren’t my style.
…. I don’t like poetry?
I’ve never been a fan. Ever. But, apparently, young me thought that I would love this book and added it to the TBR.
I’d rather read an actual book about changelings.
I mean, this sounds like a beautiful story of grief and learning to cope with guilt, mixed in with Greek mythology. But… eh?
I hate dialogue styled books. Omg do I hate them so much. Thanks for ruining it, philosophy. And so that means I will not read this.
Wow, are you sure this isn’t a modern fanfic? Because it sounds angsty as hell. And totally not up my alley anymore.
I have no interest in reading about school shootings when I can just flip on the news most days to see that.
I read the author’s book on Jim Jones and Jonestown so yes I will read the shit out of this book. I also find Charles Manson fascinating.
I might own this book. I might. I don’t think so, but I might. Either way, I’ve read one book and liked it, then I tried her Henry VIII one and…. didn’t like it? Not my kind of writing style. So, for the time being…
I’d rather read a nonfiction book or journal article about eating disorders in men.
Last TBR: 2093
Books kept: 1
Books removed: 9
Current TBR: 2069
Apparently I’m really ruthless after work when I do these. Gonna have to remember that for next time.
