July TBR

Caidyn's TBR

Another month, another very ambitious TBR. Are you anything but surprised? I would hope not.

This month, I’m really trying to focus on reading books that I’ve gotten from various book subscription boxes that I’ve had. There are about three stacks, so I’m wanting to read them down this month!

Also, a few of the books I’ve been reading since June but I’m putting on my July TBR since they’re long and that’s when I’ll be finishing them.

Let’s get into it, then!

Rust & Stardust

ARC provided by the publisher through Netgalley.

Now, this is one of the books I’ve been reading throughout the month of June and will be finished very soon! It’s a telling of the true crime that likely inspired Nabokov’s Lolita. So far, very good!

Dance of Thieves (Dance of Thieves, #1)

ARC provided by the publisher through Netgalley.

This is another one I have kind of started already. But. I didn’t know it was hooked onto a series?? I didn’t know it was linked into the same world as her first series. Which I haven’t read and have no interest in reading. Hopefully, it turns out well because I want to like this!

With Chantel

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5)

This is a continuation of our Harry Potter Read! The schedule has majorly changed, but why update it? We’ll be starting it this month and continuing it through September since this is the longest book in the series!

The Book of Essie

Both of us got this book in our June BotM box. Since we’re both really excited for it, we decided to read this together! I know that I’m really pumped about it.

Sing, Unburied, Sing

When we initially did voting for our 2018 reads, this was one that came up that we both were interested in. When we reevaluated the rest of 2018, we agreed this would stay! I’m excited for this because I know next to nothing about it.

This is another book I’ve been reading for, like, a good bit of June. But, I’m not going to finish it before July, so it’ll go on my July TBR! It’s super good so far. So, so good. I’m really excited to write my review.

Lifel1k3 (Lifelike, #1)

I’ve seen some stuff about this book and it sounds interesting, so I decided to add this to my TBR. I mean, why not? (Although I should probably read his Nevernight trilogy first….)

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1)

I guess I’m jumping on this bandwagon?? I don’t know. I’ve had it all over my Goodreads dash lately that I really had to see what the hype is.

The Outsider

Okay, so his latest release, Sleeping Beauties, was a huge miss for me, but I’m super excited for this book. I already know what day I’m going to try binging it in.

A long, long time ago, I got PageHabit’s subscription. I wasn’t a huge fan of it, so I canceled it and now I have all these books to read.

The Last Mrs. Parrish

I’m nearly 100% sure that this was one of the first books I got from PageHabit, so this has been here for a while. It sounds pretty good, so we’ll see how it goes!

Another book that interests me. Mainly the cover does. I don’t know much about the book?? But whatever. I’ll see how it goes.

Little Broken Things

When I posted on Instagram about my large stacks of unread book subscription books, Alyssa @ A Reader’s Journey told me that this was really good and that I need to read it soon. So, a late addition to this but I hope I like it!

Nocturnal Reader’s Box

Sadly, I recently had to cancel this subscription box because of finances, but I want to read the books I have from it!

Cast a Cold Eye

This is another one I’ve been reading since June. I only have a little bit left, so I know that a review will come soon! It’s a very short book.

The Gone World

A review will come for this one very soon since I DNFed it a little bit ago. Still, it’s a part of my July TBR because it won’t be up on the blog until July.

This was the first book I got from NRB, so it’s about time that I read it, right? I’m actually not too sure what this book is about, but I’m intrigued by it!

Slade House

I haven’t read anything by Mitchell yet and apparently this is in the same world as another one of his books. I hate reading books out of order (even if it’s not technically a sequel) but I’ll still read this and decide if I want or need to go back to the first!

Unbury Carol

The picture of the cover doesn’t do it justice at all. The cover is literally so. pretty. It’s a very bright red and I love it. But, I haven’t read anything by Malerman, although I’ve been wanting to read one of his for a while. So, we’ll see how I like this taste of him!

Book of the Month

This is the one book subscription box that I still am getting. It’s very affordable, so I want to keep it. They have great books, too, plus I really like being able to select my own reads. If you don’t have it, I’d be happy to send you a referral code!

Still Lives

Another really pretty cover, but it also sounds really interesting to me. I’ve taken one art history class (so of course I’m an expert) and it really sounds up my alley. Famous murdered women and art? Sounds fantastic! A real murder? Even better!

The Anomaly

X-Files? Indiana Jones? I was sold. Except they forgot Josh Gates because when I read the description, I thought it sounded like Destination Truth. (And if you haven’t watched anything by Josh Gates, you need to remedy that!)

The City of Brass (The Daevabad Trilogy, #1)

I probably should have read this book earlier in the year, but I am excited for it. I want to read something that’s more diverse and this is a perfect chance!

The Girl Who Smiled Beads: A Story of War and What Comes After

Since high school, I’ve been interested in the Rwandan genocide, although I haven’t read much about it at all. I got this book because I thought this was a great chance. And now that I changed it so it was in my Top Ten books of 2018, I want to read it this month!

The Chalk Man

And, last, this is another book that Alyssa told me I should check out and so I am! I got it and wanted to read it, but I just kept forgetting it/putting it off.

So, that’s my TBR! Ambitious as usual, but I think I can accomplish all or most of it. Probably even some extra reads I decide to put in there.

Talk to me!
Have you read any of these?
What do you think of my July choices?

  1. I wasn’t a huge fan of The Chalk Man I wanted more fear I think.
I’ve been meaning to get unbury Carol though it sounds intriguing, and I read Malerman’s Bird Box and loved that one.
This is a big ass TBR! Good luck 😀

    • Good to know about The Chalk Man! I’ll keep that in mind because I love a good scare. And same about Unbury Carol. I’ve heard good and bad about it!

Thank you for the good luck wish and the comment!
