Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King and Owen King

Sleeping Beauties

TW: sexual assault, mentions of sexual assault, rape culture, drugs and drug use, mental illness, jail, and probably more that I forgot

After reading this since February, I’ve finally given up on this book.

This isn’t the first King book that I’ve given up on, but it was just so dull that I couldn’t help myself from it. I was over halfway through the book and nothing had happened. Just men being idiots (as usual, but worse than usual) and women falling asleep.

I wish I was joking.

I really wanted to like this book, too. I was set to enjoy it because it sounded so interesting.

But it’s one of those books where the premise is better than the carry-out.

None of the characters were super interesting. The random character dramas — both plot related and subplot things — didn’t interest me. I never related to what was going on. And then it was just getting worse with how men are. It’s a statement about how men need to change their ways before all women get fed up and leave them. Yet, it was dull as rocks when it could have been so interesting.

Definitely not for me. I think I’ll go back and read a tried and true book by him.
